  • Hubby and I contemplated retiring in a warm-hot climate area. But after the last few weeks of hot weather and I completely melted, we changed our minds 🙈
.
Now that the weather is more reasonable and I am better at driving fast (Autobahn first world issues 😂), the girls and I have been wandering about more.
.
Today’s stop: Heppenheim, not far from Mannheim. The town centre has looked more less like this since the late 17th century. In the U.K., I called these buildings half-timbered. In Germany, fachwerk. Oh, guess who’s revisiting next spring during wisteria season? 😬 See the glimpse of it on the left?
.
The girls and I had yummy tapas underneath one of the umbrellas. Perfect weather, decent company (I had to listen to some bickering 😜) and a cute surrounding.
.
Have a fab Tuesday!!
  • How many ❤️❤️ can you 👀? I see 10.
.
A sweet little table and two chairs. Perfect for a ☕️ with a friend or significant other ❤️
.
Hope your Monday is going well!!
  • Whatcha up to this weekend? Us, a wander to Mainz, Germany. Our state capital.
.
One of the lovely corner of Mainz, with lots of history to boost!
.
Kirschgarten square right behind the cathedral (you can see it in the background there) and is framed by half-timbered houses.
.
A lively and beautiful Altstadt (old town) full of cafes, shops and being the capital of wine country, lots and lots of yummy 🍷
  • What if you live in between two most fantastic coffee shops?
.
Saarbrücken surprised me. A modern city with a few cute alleyways and a great coffee scene. I wouldn’t mind going back and explore some more! Our mini trip with the girls got cut a bit by torrential rain that came out of nowhere. Crazy whether yesterday!
.
I am coming out of the heatwave hiding! I don’t know what happened but I completely melted when it got super hot here. Over 95F/34C with no AC in the house (or in many public places around us). I did spend more time than usual at the grocery store 🙈😂
.
The rain was very much welcomed yesterday. I just didn’t know that it would be THAT crazy!
.
Little fact: Saarbrücken was part of France after WW2. In 1957, it rejoined Germany again.
.
Now I wonder... Are the people in bordering cities/town/villages fluent in two languages? 🤔
  • That guy I met at a dance club, drunk and all.
.
Well, fifteen marriage years later we’re still together! We’ve had our ups and downs, still far from perfect, but we kept working on us and here are, the best we’ve ever been. Love him to bits and I am one lucky lady ❤️
.
We’re not doing anything extraordinary, just a nice meal tonight and a family day tomorrow. But we haven’t booked or planned anything. I may be taking this whole last minute and impromptu stuff to the next level 😜
.
Have a gorgeous weekend, all!!
  • The storybook village of Eguisheim. See the 🚲?
.
A medieval village and the story has it that the first vine was planted here in the 4th century by the Romans.
.
It’s been soooooo hot here in Germany (96F/36C). With no AC, and just not used to this kind of heat, we’ve all been melting.
.
Sorry for the lack of posting. I have no excuse except being hot 🙈 I have zero motivation when my brain gets this hot. I am like a computer... I need a good cooling system to run 😂😂
.
How has your summer been doing? Watching the lunar eclipse now and cooling the house down by having every windows open (and hope the 🦇 don’t come in... it’s happened already 🙈😂).
  • Hey! How’s it going?
.
I felt better sometimes mid-week and did a bit of wandering. Found this cute town of Meisenhaim and took a few snaps.
.
This small town has a charming centre, not at all full of tourists, and with many cute little streets. Our kind of place ❤️
.
Off to find a lake to cool off tomorrow. It’s suppose to be a hot next few days!
.
Laters!!
  • Caught a cold and feeling meh. The roses here though cheered me up a bit.
.
Thimble Cottage is the name of this house. What would you name your English cottage home? Mine would be Wilder Rose 🌹
.
Watched the England vs Croatia game with friends and forgot to post. Gutted that England didn’t win but Croatia played hard and well deserved. Looking forward to Sunday!
  • “This poor provincial town” where Belle lived.
.
Imagine her walking whilst her face buried in a 📖 .
Riquewihr, France, is one of two villages that inspired Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Look at this alleyway! Gorgeous!! The rest of the village centre was just 👌👌 but good gosh, with fame and cuteness comes many many tourists.
.
Despite the tourists, us four included, it was worth the visit! For our family this village ticked a few of our boxes: cute overload for me and WW2 history for hubby. I would love to go on a week day and earlier in the day to get a better feel of the village.
.
Hope your weekend is going well!
